The stitching has come away from the side of the fabric around the rear window, which has allowed the window to pull away, causing a gap. Is it at all possible to re-stitch this area. I've watched a video of the window being replaced but I think it will need this stitching repaired first. (image is for info only)

@kl-bmz3 yes mate it is. It can be done DIY but needs two idealy. I went the other way as my window needed replacing as well as a load of stitching (about 25cm all round). Cost £240 for window, stitching and labour at a Company called Soft Tops in Coventry.

Someone posted up that they bought some kind of stitching device off Amazon to do theirs and it worked ok. It was a while ago - maybe 2 years - but I'll try and find the link when I get home later.

I read the tread on the stitching repair, the tool might be the easier method and take out the window to allow it all to be done from the outside. The window needs replaced anyhow as there is a 2 inch crack in it

Everybody thinks I'm a search engine & member directory... but sometimes it's just remembering key words to use in the search. In this case "stitcher amazon" brought up the 2 results I was looking for!

Many thanks for the help, my jaw dropped when I seen the gap, a job for the winter months I think. At least the car is under a carport so I've no worries about rain getting in

I have replaced my rear window almost 2 years ago. It is not a job for the faint hearted. My stitching was gone in the left corner as well. I just used a needle and some strong wire when the window was out. There are no stitchings under the rubber seal. You get the gap if your roof has torsion or maybe if the plastic has shrunken in the time. My gap returned after driving a winter with the hardtop on. I have now peace with my gap, it belongs to the car.... It will be probable bigger when i remove the hardtop in the end of October.
