I was chatting to Steve @Low Rider last night regarding camera footage from a rear view camera.
I dug out one of my "less expensive" ones and rigged it as follows just to try over the next few days.

I'm hoping I've got the angle of dangle right so I don't record too much boot lid, time will tell.

I also rigged a high-tec recovery system in case the camera decides to go awol.

Simply running the power cable to the cig. lighter socket for now.

Do you have perspex in the roll hoops Tony? it would be a little more discreet in there and give you a better view out of your rear view mirror?

The view behind is always as interesting as the forward view.I've done it with the GoPro to try it out.

I'm without my dash cam at the moment. I posted my Nextbase 402G from the LR off to be repaired yesterday. It seems the Lithium Ion battery is prone to failing just after the warranty period is up. The device is effectively bricked even though it externally powered. I'd had mine about 15 months when it failed :(

I emailed their support desk and complained because I found out it had failed when I was shunted from behind (slow speed and I was stationary), no damage to mine but the tow bar made a mess of the front of the guys Alpha Romeo

Anyways, having laid it on with a trowel (including putting some the letters after my name I'm allowed but rarely use but it has the right effect when I do usually -- theres quite a few I don't use too, plus a few that others have endowed on me =))) Nextbase decided not to argue and quickly agreed to repair it FOC. Hopefully will get it back in a few days.

You have to fight for most things these days Ian. Glad they agreed to repair it for you.

Most have had to pay themselves or buy the part and do it themselves. It's how you complain that matters.

So, road tested today. Roof up on way to work this evening sound not bad, not tso great at higher speed. Went out at lunch and through town with roof up sound good. Ahem, on the way home tonight, roof down wind noise is awful. Going to try muffling the mic. port on the cam and try it again. Picture quality ok for a cheap camera. Steve @Low Rider I'll put a clip on my Youtube tonight and leave a link sometime tomorrow.

I will try muffling the mic Steve which should make it better, you know I like some sound on a video ( even if it's someone worried about how deep the water is ;)) but you can always turn sound recording off if need be.:)

Here you are Steve, as said best keep the sound low. Have turned the sound recording off for now. I'm looking into finding a way to muffle the mic. Have made some adjustments on the camera too, so I'll try another clip later.:)

Nice and clear video Tony. I was hoping to get footage of a car following you.
I'll keep a look out for that and post something then Steve.
