Hey all,

I am in the process of removing the rear subframe to install the adjustment kit for camber/tow . and just started the removal process.

I had to wreck the hard line ( brake line ) that is the pipe that runs along the trailing arm.

I found one replacement on ebay.... I might order it, since it is OEM and already shapped.

I also saw that if I go to the bmw parts counter, they will just give me a straight line ? but does that line already have the oem flares and nuts ? I just have to bend it ( carefully ) ?

this is the guy:

Just called local bmw... ordered it through them. only $45.... and he tells me it is already shapped to factory . so fingers crossed when I see it in 4 weeks.

way cheaper than the $160 on ebay for a used one.

AND... if I really do get it as a straight pipe... i'll pay them to shape it :) since I saved $100 on the part anyways.

If you bought the metal pipe genuine from bmw it will come pre formed with all the bends and pipe ends fitted just the separate spring clips ( still fitted in your pic) to refit them

Update... the genuine BMW brake line came in and I picked it up today . IT IS NOT pre-formed. It came in as a straight pipe.

Even the parts guy was surprised as they expected it to be pre-formed as well.

I'll have to take it to a auto shop and I'll have them do it... at least the original is not bent and they can use it as a guide. plus I need them to press in a new diff mount bushing.

my diff is out and the rubber is cracked in the bushing.

Thats not so good :(
Nearly all the original brake lines that are ordered from the main dealership that I've seen over the years come preformed .

Buy or borrow a bender. They're cheap and pretty idiot-proof - even I managed! 😁
