rear springs

Hi all. Advice please. My new rear springs appear to be identical, but one has two dots of white paint on a coil, the other has the same two white marks, but also two red or dark pink paint marks. Can anyone explain the significance of these markings?

Hello Chris,

Where did you buy them, Were the springs boxed are they from the same manufacturer? Is your car a sport model by any chance?

Hi Dakar. Thanks for your reply. I bought the springs a few years ago to replace a broken one. My son has just produced a photo of the broken spring alongside the new ones taken some years ago , and both have the same markings. I contacted Autodoc who assured me they were indeed the correct ones. I can only wonder as to how the paint marking has changed.
