Rear speakers?

Hi everyone, to cut a long story short my sound system is terrible and have ordered some better quality speakers to replace like for like. However, looking all over the internet and people seem to have rear speakers behind the seats. But I don’t? There’s no holes there or anything. The car is 1997 so was this normal for that age? Does anyone know if the wiring will be there before I start taking the rear trim out? Would like to order some cable to be ready otherwise.

You can ask spurs in a coupe if he has any rear trims with the speaker holes or look on eBay or cut holes in your existing trim but the former would

Mine never had any wire there so bought a dremel and some 5.25" speakers aswell to make the holes

I have 5.25” speakers on the way. I think I’m going to cut the holes anyway I was just wondering why they weren’t there in the first place
