Rear speakers, no bass

Hi all
1.9 98 no sub.
I changed my rear speakers to 5.25s a couple of years ago, but they where cheaper than my front. Infinity reference, which are great.
Finally bought some matching speakers for the rear, fitted them today and still no bass.
Is there a high pass filter somewhere in the loom that I've missed. It definitely cuts out below 2/400 Hz.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Do you have the amp on the left front speaker? It is also the crossover that splits the speakers out.

In the "Resources" section of this forum, you will find the wiring diagrams for the 1998 GB cars. In there is the wiring diagram for your car, diagram 6510.0-00

Great thanks. I think it may have been modded. Going to try wiring direct

So I tried wiring direct and couldn't detect any difference, it has to be the speaker position and the baffles,or lack of, behind the seats. Hi ho

I don't know if this helps but I have been 'playing' with my aftermarket stereo recently and had to replace the rear speakers as one was blown.
I have bought new 'full range' rear speakers and have also noticed a distinct lack of bass (and high frequencies).

I think the idea with the BMW system (if it's six speaker) is that the front footwell speakers are the 'bass' and midrange, the tweeters in the doors are the high range, and the rears (being very basic 4" jobbies) just 'fill in' the sound with only midrange frequencies.

I thought that. So tried wiring direct. But it didn't make much if any difference

Update. I bought a cheap amp from Ali express, just plugs in between the car and headunit. And it's really good. It has a bass control which I turned up and now with the headunit on flat eq and the field set to the centre, I'm really happy. Big improvement
