Hi Guys, I know this subject has been covered many times so apologies in advance.
Yesterday I replaced the rear diff mount on my mates Z3 (2.8)
Removed the spare wheel, left the carrier hanging. Drained the rear axle oil (14mm Allan socket), removed the one electrical connector on the diff plate, supported the diff, removed the mount bolt, undid all the rear diff casing bolts(16mm), slid the rear cover out, it came out really easily. Cut two slots in the outer bush metal(don't cut to deep!) then just applied heat to the rubber bush, after a few mins, just push the rubber out,
Put the cover on two blocks of wood and tap out the old mount. Made up new rear casing gasket(I believe a new one is £9 ish) from gasket paper, we fitted a new Polly bush. Reasemled in the reverse order and topped up the diff with fresh oil.
This car had a clunk from the rear and the offending bush only had slight wear in it, putting a Polly bush in sorted the clunk and just the general feel of the car has been transformed all down to one bush.
If you allow about 1.5 to 2 hours for this job you won't be far out.
