I have a 1998 2.8 Z3 that has been in the family since new. The battery died on me, and it caused some issues with my keys (all factory keys).
My keys are the older version where the key and the remote are separate. The main key is the type that has the LED built into the key. I have three keys, a grey key, a black key, and a black key with the LED.
Since the battery died, the only key that would work to turn on the car was the grey key. If I start the car with the grey key, I can then turn off and remove the grey key, and the car will start with any of the other keys. But after a certain period of time (an hour or less) the black keys will again stop working.
Is there a way to re-sync these keys with the car so I can use any of the keys?
Any help is appreciated, I've googled and googled and have a hard time finding anything. 90% of the results are in regards to the keys with the FOB all in one (tombstone/diamond keys I believe they are called), which is not relevant to me!
