OK here I am! I know it was a freebee after Santa Pod and because i had to travel all the way to Northampton for what I
was told was a small increase in BHP something in the region of 15bhp, because of the naturally aspirated engine on the zeds I was wondering if the trip was worth it.
Got there at half ten and was greeted by John Thorn, Thorney Motors and Santa Pod sponsor, what a great guy! A coffee and a chat to start
and register the car in. Then he said "Did you tell me it was an Alpina", Yes I had, he had doubts because he said that Alpina's could have
an ECU that sometimes cant be read by his computer!! anyway after checking it read it ok, apparently the ECU on mine is an E46 M3
model ECU.
It took about 3 hours to set the re-map and then they took it for a test drive.
Had a chat with John then for a few mins asking him was there any issues with the engine, had they noticed any noises or other matters
that need dealing with, and none, so all is well under the bonnet.
He did say that even though the uprated BHP isn't great I should find quite a difference in the cars performance, its not unusual to get a better
result from a naturally aspirated engine that one's with turbo's.
On my way back I have to say it took a few miles before I got used to the difference, it was impressive I must say!! The throttle response is so sensitive, if I just breath on the pedal it responds with thrust, I had a quick car, now I have a quicker car! Its just the feel of driving power this
Re-map has given the car makes it sooooo different. Big smile most of the way home, had my camera alert on good job, not that I was speeding you know!! just testing it here and there.
Was it worth it.......YOU BET! Roll on Santa Pod 2016.
Big thank you to Thorney Motors. :racecar: :scorecard:
Now then swamper practice your gear changes ready....:coolsteer)

Generally speaking Tony they are in the region of £300 and will normally see gains on NA cars of 10% BHP and circa 10% torque with better drive ability and even a modest increase in fuel economy.

Really pleased you had an great result - I think your main gain will be from every day driving - rather than taking time from your 1/4 mile - which is more important.

Be interesting if they gave you an Dyno pre and post re-map

Well I on my third remapped car - improved economy is what I say to the wife - in reality MPG goes down as I put my right foot down more PMSL

Had an 330D WOW the about of torque was amassing, and also in my old 335i after been re-mapped was another rocket ship.

In the 330D - had my son push the seat back so he had to lean forward and placed an £20 note - told him if he can keep his hands on the dash board all the time I was accelerating he could keep it.

He never managed it...

However I found the 330D was more top end power - but rev freely - the 335i was just POWER

Thorney Motors charge £495 for what I had done today!

I had a road test done on it last year with Thorney and it was confirming 305 BHP, I did think of having it done again today but cost of £90
with xmas round the corner took John's word for it that it will now be about the 315 to 320 BHP, but as said above I think its more the torque that's
providing all the difference!
