Hi All
I am getting a randomish mild clonk from the back end somewhere. Sounds more than trim or cabling but not major/ about to fall off. Any ideas on this?

Could be the diff. Does it do it when pulling off or changing gear? Really prone, mine does it, nothing to worry over.

Could be something loose underneath - might be worth an inspection and a couple of shakes here and there - very technical.:)

Worn damper mounts are a well documented source of rear end noises.

That's a good point Ian. Mine were completely shot and making a right racket.. Lee was god smacked when he drove mine. It had completely gone on one side and the knocking was vibrating down the side of the car.

Sounds like that area but didn't think the mount could deteriate in my lifetime! I will take s look though.
According to my Z3s (fairly) comprehensive service history, both rear shock mounts were replaced in 2014 (55K miles) to "cure a creaking noise". Each mount cost £11.95 plus a top mount gasket at £1.00 - all plus VAT. One hours labour was charged bringing total to £100 all up.

I think 50/60K miles is generally normal replacement intervals with these cars.

Wow that's alot. It's really not a big job at all to do so very easy to save yourself £100 If anyond is thinking of it. I bought the pair on eBay with gaskets for £15.

If it only happens when the top is up then that would suggest it has something to do with the top ;)
