I've been a little quiet on here recently but doing some minor stuff in the background. This is probably a really basic question to help with replacing the door rubbers along the bottom of both doors.

There's a soft rubber seal but also a harder plastic piece that partially covers it (photos attached). The soft rubber clearly just peels off but can anybody let me know about the harder black plastic piece that I also want to replace please? Is there a secret screw / unclipping technique / etc please?

Thanks in advance.....

Paul

The inner piece you just have to tug very firmly. The plastic clips are beefy and the strip is strong. I've not broken either on a number of different cars yet.

By the way. Definitely worth changing as a hole in this area lead to a leak.

Or if you want to try saving some pennies google Sugru - it's amazing stuff and will plug that gap if done very carefully, probably in layers.

Thanks @mrscalex = that's helpful. I've tried this with other bits and found out after the event there was a clip that I'd broken! I'll give it a bit of elbow grease........

I'm investing in the car anyway so any bits I'd rather replace for new (assuming its not going to cost half the price of the car) - it'll last longer and improve the looks a little too. Thanks again

Sounds good to us both! I'm heading towards redundancy that will mean an early semi-retirement (at the ripe old age of 51). Will mean more time for the important stuff (like zedding) next year :thumbsup::)
I like your priorities ZEDDING :p:D:thumbsup:

Enjoy it as best you can, at 51that's everyone's dream but don't be surprised if you have less time free! Good luck! JIM
