Suspension - Am I right in my assumption that it’s only the springs that are shorter (-15mm ?) and the sport model uses standard size dampers?
thanks 😁

i am not so sure about all models.
here are the photos of my 2001 M43/1.9 sport edition.
the springs and the shocks clearly say that they are “sport” edition and real oem and TIS distinguish them as “M sports suspension” but I am not going to argue any more about this, if people say that the sport edition just has lower springs, then so be it.

And for reference I have photographed more than 10 different codes on various parts from the sport edition that are not the same with the normal version.
and just for reference here is what a “sport” version part has stamped on it.

this is the Sachs numbers for the Z3 Sport (EU)
Front, rear and their bump stops.
you can cross reference them to Boge who also produced a sport suspension setup for the Z3.
I could give you the numbers but I am not at home and will not be for another week so at my age doing this at a tiny mobile phone screen equals to eye torture.
The next best option is Monroe.
or you can just throw a set of Bilsteins and then you will be able to tell head from tales if you run over a penny.
cheers.

*edit - you posted while I was typing, already answered. Disregard my post.

Hello,

The difference between shock absorbers from the sport suspension and the standard suspension is the pressure valve inside the shock absorber that controls the flow of oil between the inner and outer tube, other than this they are identical.....................

For reference Sachs and Boge shocks are identical, manufactured in the same plant, the only difference is the branding.

Sport dampers seem to be unobtainable so will go with standard (Sachs probably).. doubt there will be any noticable difference.
The only other option considered is a full B12 kit but I dont really want the car any lower, I struggle to get out of mine as it is 🤣

Put a Bilstein B12 suspension kit (Bilstein B8 shocks) on mine a year or so ago. Stance just right IMO and handles real good.

You will not notice any difference, also depends what you are using the car for. If you are using on tack days etc then you need Bilstein as suggested, if the car is for weekend or daily normal road use, save your money.

The Sachs sport version was discontinued several years ago, although Monroe did not manufacture the shocks for the Z3 as OE they are a very credible alternative, unless you want to keep as original of course, let price determine your purchase.
