Question on what route mapping software people are using or can recommend ? I've searched on the forum but cant immediately locate an answer.
The requirements are, to be able to lay out a route beforehand, download to a garmin or tom-tom (& possibly phone app). And drive . . . !
I have previously been using 'myroute', and I know others on the forum use it too. But I've gradually gotten annoyed with it. On the free version, it doesnt use satellite view (just 'map' view). And although it works fine the majority of the time, there seems to always be just one or two place markers that cant be placed accurately enough and are then missed (I'm looking at you, intersection in Glossop & Dales route up to Tan Hill). There is no button on screen to say 'skip', and the Garmin is then absolutely adamant you have to turn around and run over the waypoint properly. I'm not doing that, then its a fiddle to try and identify and select what was going to be the next marker, and carry on the route.
Its a phaff, so I'm done with it (hopefully) . . . looking for alternatives . . .
I've had one recommendation about 'Tyre' (edit: hang fire on this - see below) that uses Google Maps (thank you Dave @Mint ). I see its available on https://tyre2navigate.com/ which seems to be the original rather than a mirror. That currently only has a Windows version. It would be great if there was a web (coming) or linux version (I cant have everything I suppose).
So, before I have to beg Herself for use of her Windoze laptop again, are there any other recommendations out there that people are making good use of ?
Thanks for your help, any comments or recommendations gratefully received . . .
