The E85 has a curved front bumper, I've noticed there is a nice fitted number plate holder which allows you to clip a plate in.
The E89 is also curved and doesn't seem to have that option, number plates either screwed or taped on directly.
My existing front number plate had the backing material start to debond, black mould to start to form. It did go through MOT but thought it best not to risk an advisory next year.
Bought new plates, found a number plate holder on Amazon. Screw the back plate on the bumper, clip the new plate in to the holder, swing the holder down and engage the bottom clips.
Except it doesn't really work - the bottom clips pop out because of the curvature of the bumper.
Put a grubber screw in the bottom middle to make sure I don't loose the plate. The two sides still pop out, so another grub screw on each side to hold it down.
But looking at the back of the holder on the sides, it's an awfully thin piece of plastic that seems to be holding it on and it looks stressed. First Yorkshire winter I suspect thats going to go brittle and separate.
What I really need is an E85 number plate holder for the curvature of the E89 bumper.
Anyone have a solution ?
