Tickets, a birthday gift from my Daughter persuaded me to give Thoresby a miss and visit Lincolnshire Aero Museum for a car and plane event called "props and pistons". A great display of cars not normally seen at most car shows from KTM crossfires to a 1 of 8 only special edition "Spitfire" Aston Martin V12 Vantage (My Favourite). Some new cars on display and some very expensive rare classics including a Alfa Romeo Montreal and a Ford GT40. To some the £14 entry may sound expensive but to be around such interesting cars it was worth the entry (Thanks Emma) Forgot to mention the planes The star of the whole place the Avro Lancaster unfortunately only allowed to taxi but hearing those four engines running even the brief Taxi sessions were quite emotive. Other features, air display from a Bristol Blenheim landing and taking part in the static display and a Spitfire from the Battle of Britain flight, unfortunately the Hurricanes and their Lancaster is grounded at present but hopefully making an appearance in 2018. If you get the chance next year i can highly recommend this show as an alternative to the norm. A few pictures of a selection of cars and planes from the day.
Not one for the road
KTM Cross blade also better suited to the track
3 Healeys more like our beloved Zeds
Something else from the BMW stable
Only Zed on display, not my cup of tea but do like the reg number
If its got to be electric, could be worse
Cars and planes seem to go together to make a successful show the ever popular DC3 Dakota
The Star of the Aero Park the Avro Vulcan "Just Jane"
Just Jane Taxi's around the Designated area, Although not allowed to fly (unless the RAF borrow it) quite a sight and sound
A BMW for sale but well past my budget
A brace of Ferraris, there were one or two about, but only one Zed perhaps ours are becoming rare?
One Ferrari i would love to own or should i just say Dino
Yes its the DB5 still this one looked amazing, probably drives like a pig
Loved this Aston 1 of 8 special edition Spitfire models.
This Aventador the most striking of all the Lamborghinis on display
And yet another Ferrari
Just for good measure the working mans car a Ford.
Sorry for probably too many Pics, but if you've made it this far hope you have enjoyed them, took loads more it really was a great day for ogling some fantastic motors. Seeing the Lancaster, Spitfire and Dakota put the Icing on the cake "Top day"
