Hello fellow Zedders,

So I bought my 3.0 sport pride and joy late last year and now I want to sort some bits out to ensure its in pristine condition. Nothing serious and probs not noticeable but just me being anal.

So I will start off my list (which will grow as I continue through the project and discover other bits lol) -

1. The HK audio system.
I am not too happy with the quality of the audio, there seems to be crackling from the front. I will get all the speakers, sub and amp checked over. Probs best to refresh the system but keeping it oem/HK.

The head unit is the Becker grand prix so that will defo be staying :)

2. Imperfection on rear bonnet
A previous owner seems to have damaged the paint work while de-badging the 3.0i emblem. So i have two options, either rebadge or repair it.

3. Rear plastic screen
Looks old with creases going across it. I will give it a good clean and hope I can bring it back to a good condition else will look to replace with a new one.

4.Roof
The roof needs a good clean. I am hoping my autoglym roof cleaner does the job restoring it to its glory :)

5. Keys
I have three sets of keys but they are all worn. Cant make out the buttons or text. I would love to replace the rubber housing or update it to a modern looking key.

6. Side kick panels
The stainless steel plate that says roadster on the side kick panels has scuffs on it. Either will look to remove the scuffs or replace the entire side kick panel.

7. Tiny dent on chrome window surround
I am hoping someone can remove this dent as replacing the chrome surround sounds like a lot of work. Will post pics. Most likely caused from a stone chip. Are these actually stainless steel or plastic that is coated in chrome?

8. Very tiny dent on chrome door handle
Easiest to replace this. Most likely do both sides with a fresh set.

9. M side grille
Not sure how someone did this but one of the side M grilles has a bit of the chrome flaked off. Very annoying. What is everyones view on repairing this? Respray the chrome?

10. Stone chip on windscreen
I am hoping this can be filled as I would want to keep the original OEM glass.

11. Petrol cap
The cord on the petrol cap is broken. Can these be replaced easily?

12. Replace front and rear badges
Can anyone tell me the sizes for these please? Want to swap with OEM ones only.

Any advice would be grateful on the above and what would you do?

Thanks
Amz

Good detailed list there Amz,

I used Autoglym on my roof and it looked great after. The spray is great too for when you wash it next, all the water runs off, doesn't grip the fabric at all.
I also had the same issue on keys. But eBay was a good place to buy new rubbers which can be switched once you open up the key.
For the petrol cap, which bit do you mean? is it the locking pin? or something else? I had to buy a replacement cable from the actuator in the wheel arch to the cap as you can't buy the tip bit. Sometimes going direct to BMW can work out cheaper on parts. But do shop around.

I also used the autoglym roof kit. Good results looked nearly new when I finished it.

So gave her a good wash, managed to get the roof looking a lot better with Autoglym roof cleaner kit but I think another once over next wash will better improve the results.

So the first mod came in the form of the genuine BMW sports antenna. I prefer the short stubby look as it compliments the curves on the rear ;)

Also a walk around video of her after she was all cleaned up. Enjoy

p.s please ignore the neglected driveway in the video, thats my next task hehe

Its got those tatty AC Schnitzer roll hoops I have a black genuine set you can swap straight out:D

Seriously nice looking zed. If the Black has faded on the roof you could try the http://www.renovointernational.com/products/soft-top-reviver.php but will do nothing for any smoothed off patches of mohair. I got genuine replacements badges off eBay and from the dealer. There are plenty of copies out there with various quality. You can get a flip case for your keys on eBay if you have the three buttoned type as well.

What a gorgeous car, but please, don't take it for test wearing those number plates. Personally I would hate to have to fail it just for that.

Tony.

Stunning Car, I remember this car from a few years back, IIRC it belonged to a guy called Lee? Think he was a nurse up in the lakes somewhere. Enjoy:coolsteer)
