Hi all,

This is a bit of a heads up for you all. The current version of the XenForo forum software we use is going end of life in the near future, which means we (or rather I) need to look in to the new version that's replaced it.

I'm currently investigating what work is involved, and the feature changes that are likely to happen as a result. There is a good chance it will include some nice new features, but also that some of the add-ons we use here aren't available in the new version (either now, or have been discontinued). For example, the member map was written by a third party and it isn't being updated for the new version.

There will also be some costs incurred for licenses and so on (I haven't worked out the total cost as yet).

I'll try and keep you up to date as I progress through the research, and there will hopefully be chance for me to document the key changes for you beforehand. I'll also let you know in plenty of time before the work is carried out live.

Gaz.

Appreciate the work you do.

Happy to make a contribution towards costs if needs be.

Hoping the new format will still include the like, agree etc options. They're a nice touch that many other forums don't have.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure that we as a group can assist in any additional costs

I’m sure I say this on behalf of all the members on this forum, Thank you for all your time and effort for keeping this forum going. Without all the effort that you put in, there would be a lot of Zed owners new and old who would struggle to keep their cars on the road.
I for one, find this forum invaluable as a source of knowledge and help and long may it continue.

I've just in the last couple of minutes found that there does seem to be a similar add-on by a different developer that will import the current ratings. Looks like that one is covered!

I'm a bit closer to a plan having had a run through everything in my head. I've tied up some of the sticking points I had the last time I looked and I think it *should* be relatively straight forward - but time consuming! Timings will be complete guesswork at this point. Then I have to think about when I attempt the upgrade itself. Thinking I should try and get it done before the end of May.

Rough estimate of license costs I've totted up so far is $327.00 (roughly £260). That includes the main core software licenses, and the key add-ons and themes. There is £50 in the forum PayPal account right now, so not too far off!

I'll keep ya'll posted though.

Initially we will roll with their out of the box default style which will look something like this. I'll then spend some time working on the new look styles (one light, and one dark) and release them a few weeks later.
