So, some NOT so nice news. The power steering is knackered. It's stiff as hell. First diagnosis is the pump. So it got replaced with a refurbed pump and a genuine BMW belt. Still no change. Now the reservoir filter is clogged up, I hear... and the assumption is this is the culprit.
I have one on order, so hoping and praying this will be it. BUTTTT I have this scary thought that it might be the power steering rack :( Could a clogged up reservoir cause so much havoc with the steering? Please advice.. I don't want it to be the rack ..:(

Hopefully it’s the filter but if it ends up being the Rack then Western Power Steering were very good for a refurb/exchange unit.

Just fit a good used rack. I have several, £80 plus post.

I've seen some of these 'recon' PAS racks and they're crap.

Bad news - the reservoir replacement didn’t fix the PAS issue. Bought a rack from @Andyboy - thank you for posting so at your earliest convenience. Let’s see if this will solve it
