Does anyone know if it is possible to change the PS reservoir and the reservoir hoses from above on the 3.0 Z3. It looks like it might be possible by removing the air intake box and alternator but I thought I would ask before giving it a go.

I have leaks on the hose connections onto the pump and am pretty certain it the reservoir hose connections but it almost impossible to get at it from underneath to see. Probably ok on an overhead lift but I don’t have one!

I have jacked it and removed the splash tray to take a look but even with that out of the way its very difficult to see, hence wondering if they can be done from above.

Any experience on this would be appreciated.

Mine was leaking at the fitting on the low pressure return line. I unbolted the reservoir so I could lift it up and fit a jubilee clip. The hose was fine with a little pressure. The original clip was solid and after all the years didnt clamp on any longer.

Well the answer is yes you can.

Removed the air box, alternator cooling duct, underneath splash tray and the grill. You can then just get to everything, although cutting the crazy crimp on stainless clips off the virtually inaccessible connections on the PS pump was fun. It went back with stainless steel worm clips!

So it now has a new reservoir, new reservoir hoses and a new cooling loop. Make sure if you are changing the cooling loop you buy new rubber mounts as two of them sheared off rather than coming undone.
