Hi I’m after some good condition power steering cooling pipes for a 1997 2.8. Mine are too rusty to save.
cheers

Decent second hand ones getting harder to obtain.
And relatively sure both return and cooler no longer available from bmw.
Few members on here have zedonist parts on their zeds.

@Stevo7682 thanks for the recommendation.

@Tomk it’s often the pipe from steering rack feeding the cooling the loop which fails as it corrodes quite badly. It’s site along the front of the steering rack so gets a bit of a blasting when we’re driving our cars.
I make the kit I supply. I’ve sold quite a few of them now and had good feedback so far.
The kit has everything you need as a straight swap and should last another 20 years

The high pressure line runs from the pump to the steering rack. The most common issue is leaking from the pump and/or corrosion.

In my opinion it’s always worth changing the flexible hoses to / from the power steering reservoir and the reservoir itself, whilst you’re at it.
I didn’t bother and ended up with leaking flexible pipes.
The reservoir also contains a non-serviceable filter.
The reservoir and flexible pipes are obtained fairly cheaply online from brands like Meyle and Febi

all the best

Thanks Martin

I’ve had a look, need to do a little saving! Replacement engine, new clutch, slave cylinder, water pump the list goes on……
I’ll probably be in touch once I’ve got the engine back in a fired up 🤞🙏

I have a very good pump to rack pressure hose from a 2000 Z3 2.0 M52. Part number 32416754173.

The cooler pipe thing in front of the radiator can be removed and thrown in the bin. You really don't need it. The E36 doesn't have a cooler pipe and because it's not a pressure hose, you can either use an E36 M50/M52 pipe that returns fluid directly to the reservoir or modify yours.

I've used many an E36 on track days, none of them with a cooler - and never needed one.
