Hi all
I’m trying to track down a power steering hose I need for my z3.
It runs from the reservoir to the pump, and has developed a leak. I’m almost sure when I looked at it last, it had a banjo on one end…but can’t be 💯 sure.
When I look up the hose on eBay, it lists it for only the 3.2…and when I try and do it by application..I only get 6 cylinder models listed?
The number I was looking at was febi 27220…but no not so sure?
Many thanks in advance👍

Try ZEDonist. I would have tagged him for you but can't work out how.

@AntStark and @Ian&Sue thanks for mentioning me.

Hi Danny,

There are 2 hoses which run from the reservoir. One goes to the power steering pump as a supply, the other is a return from the power steering cooling loop (the cooling loop is seen right at the front of the car when you open the bonnet).

There are 2 power steering pipes with banjo bolts. One goes from the power steering pump to the steering rack. This is the high pressure side and has the smaller banjo.

The second pipe is the return which runs along the front of the steering rack to the cooling loop.

It is common for the flexible hoses from the reservoir to perish and leak. I don’t supply these as their readily available.

The main source of power steering leaks tends to be the low pressure return running along the front of the steering rack.

If you have a look at the photos on the website www.ZEDonist.com it might help you?

Alternatively www.realoem.com will help you find the part number.

if you have any questions please ask away.
If you can get some photos pointing to where the leak is that may help too.

I know it’s a bit of a faff but your best bet is removing the scuttle tray from under the car to see properly.

I recently did the hoses on my power steering system, I could never locate a part number for the pressure line (pump to steering rack) the listed part number in Real OEM, FCP Euro, and ECS/Turner was not correct part it had additional piping/cooling loop built-in which the factory part in my 97 does not. The original part on my 97 is much shorter without any extra piping. The part listings for the hose(s) that run from the reservoir to the pump and the cooling loop will depend on if your car has a low or high mounted reservoir? I have the low mounted reservoir and could again not find a part number for a specific hose for the cooling loop return hose (just a BMW # for bulk hose), I ended up buying the hose for high mounted reservoir and cutting off the end with the preformed bends which were not needed with the low mounted reservoir. If you are replacing the hoses it would be a good idea to replace the reservoir as well, it has a filter built-in and can only be replaced as a unit. On my 318ti it was the reservoir that was leaking and not the hoses.
I used the following numbers on mine with the low mounted reservoir :

Reservoir. 32 41 6 851 217. ZF LEM-1063103
Suction Hose (Reservoir to pump) 32 41 1 093 460, Rein PSH0164
Power Steering Return hose (rack to cooling loop). 32 41 1 093 761, Rein PSH0220
Power Steering Return hose (cooling loop to reservoir) 32 41 1 094 811, Rein PSH0142 (this is the hose I cut down)

The routing of the power steering hoses is quite different on American vehicles vs U.K. vehicles, especially the low and high pressure lines to/from the power steering rack.
Hopefully @AirOps information will help anyone in the USA 👍

I did not think about RHD vs LHD, I would guess that the hose from the pump to the rack and the return hose from the rack to the cooling loop would be different, and the pump supply hose and the cooling loop back to the reservoir would be the same as those three items would be the same location no matter LHD or RHD.
