after wondering what the pipe is at the front and underneath car, iv found its the power steering cooling pipe...

mine (like others) has corroded and after a bit of wire brushing iv created a pin hole.

so

Im going to cut a 5'' section out and replace it with HP hose and clips, is this a common repair??

and what fluid will leak out and from where, daft question i realise, but i rely on asking daft questions to get things right.

cheers guys

Most replace with a new one.
They are not available from Bmw any longer along with the pipe from the rack to the cooling loop.

@ZEDonist UK a member on here does replacement parts for these bits here is a link to his website so you can get a look

Stephen.

Not exactly oem, but if your on a budget untill you can get the part you could remove the loop and bridge with some tube and clamps to keep you on the road if it’s your only transport.

the issue isnt the front loop section, its a section underneath the car.
Zedonist supplies all of the necessary pipes & fittings, not just the front loop. You can buy them separately. Look at his website & click through all the photos and parts diagrams. You’ll soon see what is what and what goes where.

Just remove it and replace it with the E36 hose that goes from the rack back up to the reservoir. Or, cut the steel pipe of your existing return hose, clean it up and fit a new section of hydraulic hose (or just oil resistant).

You don't need it.The Z3 is an E36 and not many of those have the cooler loop.
