Power Issues

I have a Z3 with the 1.9L engine. I live in Baguio City Philippines which has some pretty steep hills. I would think that the 1.9 would be peppy enough to get up a hill even in 1st gear. My GF's Toyota with a 1.6 makes it up the hills no problem. However, my 1.9 loses power as it climbs a hill so that by the time it reaches the top its barely crawling and ready to stall. Anyone with any ideas? Might it be the TPS?

Have you checked the wheels spin freely and the brake callipers are not sticking? Sticking callipers is a common issue with older vehicles.

There is no drag when coasting. So I'm sure that's not it.

Just how steep are your hills ?. I have seen some stupidly steep ones in Bali TBH they would slow my 2.0 down to a crawl, hills my wifesKia would have no trouble with. That being said, running side side by side she would be looking for 4th or 5th gear and I would be still in 2nd..... How does she go on the flat ?...
