Hi there

I've found a set of wheels that I'm thinking of buying but they are a bit aggressive on the rear, the fronts will fit fine. I have a standard 2003 Z4 2.2SE and the new rears are 19x10J ET 28 - they will end up 4mm further away from the strut but poke about 42mm further out than standard 8.5J ET50 wheels.

I'm not looking to lower my car but I was hoping someone runs bigger wheels and lower offsets and could give me some real world advice on these fitting or not.

Thanks,
Rich

Some good info on these forums, it appears (at least from these guys) ET28 may well catch the arches??

You should try to ensure that the centre line of the wheel remains unaltered - this means that the ET should remain the same (as the ET is measured from the centreline of the wheel). You will need 22mm spacers to achieve this.

50% of the wheel width should be inboard of the ET, and 50% should be outboard of the ET.

At the moment 4.25" is inboard and 4.25" is outboard. You will have 5" inboard and 5" outboard. Do you have 0.75" space available on both sides of your current wheels and tyres?

Thanks for these words, guys. I’ve only just got my car and haven’t taken a rear wheel off yet but the seller said the rears are 19x9.5J with an offset of 45. But I can see at least 15mm spacers on there, maybe 20mm, and the current set up is very flush. I think I’m answering my own question - I need to pull one of my rears off to see the actual sizes.

See picture of current flushness:

You can also look at willtheyfit.com

You can compare one set up against another and see what the difference is. I am running 18x10 rears on my Z3 and had to be very careful with the offset to get them to clear

Thanks mate, I use willtheyfit all the time. I successfully ran 10J rears on my E46 touring but with a higher offset - i guess i'm being optimistic as the potential new wheels are nice, cheap yet not the best offsets. I'm gonna have to take one of my rears off to see my exact current setup before I decide!!!

Thanks again :)
