I have decided that some of my interior trim will be piano black, I was going to use hydro dipped wood effect but thought the black would give it a more modern look, I have done the door trims, handle bezzles and coin lid so far, next will be the centre console, I'm really pleased with it so far, The finish has to be perfectly flat to get the effect,

Will look fantastic with the centre console done, as said the gear stick surround would look great against the black

I'm waiting on two guys to give me a price to do the cnc machining of the top radius. I have done them by hand until now, and don't really fancy doing that any longer. I'm hoping they will come up with a good price by the end of the week. I have already ordered the basic blanks from the laser cutting guys, and should have them early next week. Also, I have 200 screws on the way from the UK which arrived here at customs today. Everything else is pretty much in hand, and I should have some ready in around 3 weeks. I'm hoping to keep the price to around £60 - 65. I'll let you know later in the week or early next week.

Thanks Sean...I'll confirm the price first though before you commit yourself. The cost of CNC machining is all that's outstanding now. I guess I could do them by hand again, but that involves huge time, and the finishing is tedious, whereas CNC machining will deliver a 99% finished surface which will require minimal fine papering and buffing before chrome plating. Doing them by hand takes 2 days per unit and then an hour of buffing to remove all the inconsistencies. Anyhow, I'll post here asap I have a firm number.

Got the top part finished today, I painted it at work yesterday and baked it with infra red, I used an accelerator in the top coat as I was putting quite a lot of material on in one go, 5 coats to be precise, It was plenty hard enough to flat and polish today and this is the result, I also did the bottom part but cocked it up so will have to paint it again, also did the hockey sticks blue,

I had to hand polish it after I flatted it with 2500 and then 3000, the whole process took about 3 hours, I tried to use a small rotory on the base, got the three flat sides perfect and burn'y through it on the curved bit.
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated.
