Heads up Testing my zed.
Patched this info together after many hours of research, trial and error.
To the chase.
Draw associated with Fuse 31 EWS System, central locking, etcetera, yours may vary with model.
Was drawing 125 milliamps.
Dropped to 30 ma in sleep mode after fix.
This is about what it should be i have read.
My 1999 z3m draws 90ma when awake after fix.
Sleep starts 1 minute after doors are closed.
Leave door open and it wont sleep.
If the Door switch is a problem and system sees door open when it is actually closed than no sleepytime for car and milliamps stay high.
I found
Driver door not working correctly.
Alarm not working at all.
Suspect car not going into sleep mode.
Fixed
That was it along with alarm sys. drawing like 50 ma.
Door switch staying open.

It is Important to understand this part.

Confused the heck out of me.

I also found that when ma. testing that the test meter leads need to stay attached until it goes into sleep mode (1 minute) in order to get accurate reading of sleep mode current draw.

Otherwise you are reading non sleep mode current draw, in my case 90ma.
The reason is that when you apply test leads to the disconnected battery negative post and the negative cable for the test you are literally connecting the battery to the car electrical system through the test meter leads.
This resets the countdown timer to sleep mode when you apply the test leads.
Keep leads attached for 1 minute.

Milliamp load test lot of writeups on this.

Had to fix this before i can sell z3m
Hope this helps someone.

This is why I bought a bluetooth clamp ammeter. Clamp the earth wire and shut the boot, lock the car.

Any problems, disconnect the bonnet switch and start pulling fuses until current drops.
