Been talking with my son-in-law today about his Porsche Cayman which he recently had part resprayed and he was thinking about getting a paint protective coating applied.
I thought he'd be better getting a good detailing done and some good polish applied. He doesn't do a big mileage and the car is always garaged.
Do these coatings require maintenance? They don't stop paint chips I take it? The main benefit from what I can gather so far is that it is good for ease of cleaning the car after it has been applied.
Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated?

He's better off with ppf fitted after a good detail on the front end
