Paint inside engine bay

Hi all.

so one of the jobs I want to deal with are the little bits of surface rust in the engine bay on the painted surfaces. It’s not rot but looks ugly. Thing is, the paint is like a gray which I’ve noticed the same under the boot lid. It’s not been resprayed so I am assuming out of the factory like that, but not the same as the outer panels. I’m suspecting this is the same as the car (Arctic Silver) but without a Polish / laquer? or perhaps the primer?

Does anyone know if this is the same paint as the rest of the car typically? If not, what colour should I be looking for?

Typically they didn't spray most of the bits you can't see normally in body colour. It should be primer with a bit of 'overspray' of the body colour. Although the suspension turrets are painted properly.

It's complicated; best to have the under bonnet paint "read" by a paint factor, and a tin of matched created.

My understanding is that the engine bay paint is not the same as the main body colour. Especially with metallics.

Under the bonnet there should be a label with the paint code. Here's an example

You see the main car color is topasblau (topaz blue) metallic. But also at the bottom of the label you see Schwarz (Black). This means that the main body, in this example, is topaz blue but under the bonnet and boot lid etc it's black.

Thanks. Found it and it’s “arktissilber” but not metallic so now time to find it somewhere.
