Hi Frankie, great to see and hear you on camera again.

That's a real shame the stitching has gone like that. I certainly didn't hear any swearing, which would probably be fully justified!

Hi Frankie, you found exactly what I did with my window. The stitching was rotted as well as the fabric that was stitched in was also rotten and even if I had taken the top off to get it restitched it would have failed eventually anyway. So new top, just can't decide on colour.
Just received my new green seat leather and need to bring it to my upholsterer friend to get the centre colours changed to the original for a two tone effect. He'll also install the top but I don't know if I can get there to get pics. Depends on when he does it I guess.
Too bad about the window, unfortunately only BMW does the zip in window. At least that's what I've found in researching. So, I too have a new German zip in I can't use unless my friend can remove the sewn in and put a half zipper in for me. JIM

Hey Frankie, sorry the rear window didn't work out good. I'm sure you're right that a new top is the way to go now. Nice to see and hear you again.
Tony.

Always better to get a new top frankie. It drastically improves the look of the car.

great video Frankie, enjoyed it :) pitty it didn't work out for you man, I had the same problem myself but I stitched the fabric, took me two hours to do a small section but it works for now :) hope we can get a vid of you fitting the new top, that will make another interesting watch
I was SO tempted to stitch it but I didn't for several reasons. I think the time it would have taken would have made it not worth it. And it would have needed it in another location on the top. I'm pretty sure that it would have been hell trying to stitch it without taking off the top, and that's crazy. Who knows how long it would be before another section would need it. All that plus I believe the top is the original and that makes it 18 years AND I still would have to install the new window. For $250.00, I'll buy a new one. I was looking on the internet a while ago and found an installer who made DVD's on installation and would have installed mine for $100.00 so he could make a video of it. This was a few months ago. When I contacted him now, he had already installed one on a Z3 and no longer was making the offer. I asked him how much he wanted and he said it was only to made the DVD and he's retired now and not interested in doing it at all. Missed that one! So I'll shop around for a good installation price. Frankie
