Hi all.
It’s a 1.9 M44. It’s run rough pretty much since I got it a few months back.
Cam sensor was the first code - changed for a new non-OEM one I’m afraid.
Second code was O2 sensor - new Bosch O2 sensor last week.
Changed the crank sensor today (OEM).
Oil changed few weeks ago.
New air filter.
Managed to start it, but after revving at 2k revs, just died at those revs and now won’t start again.
Done the chasing around for an air leak already.
Can anybody help please?

I always use OEM cam sensors; too high a failure rate for aftermarket i'm afraid.:(

Yeah I get that Ian. The code cleared though and I assumed that meant it was okay (for the moment). It’s never returned.

You mention camshaft sensor but then you say crank sensor? Does it not start at all now?

Tony.

Hi Tony.
Original code was for cam sensor and changed it, then cleared it.
Since then, after I’ve had the O2 sensor changed and cleared, I’ve changed the crank sensor today.
And no, it doesn’t start, it just spins now, with no indication on the rev counter when it’s spinning. Which is exactly how it was when it broke down on Friday.

Just an update:
Gave the car over to an independent BMW specialist (exBMW employee).
Not starting was due to a loose connection at the battery. Not the main positive lead, the other one(?).
The rough running is partially down to the coil pack. Partially as cylinder 1’s misfire has now gone with the new pack, but cylinder 4 misfire remains. I’m told that it has a permanent fault and he’s continuing to investigate the cause. This is being fitted in around his booked work.
I’ll post when I know more.
