If I wanted to replace my 2001 Z3 roof with as close an original spec roof as I can get, where would I go and at what cost?
I have seen the threads for Swansea and Croydon at the £400 to £500 level, but as I understand it, these options have no lining or pockets as well as a sewn in window. I am sure that these roofs are perfectly acceptable, and great value for money, but As I said above, I want to get as close to the original spec roof as I can.

Go to a BMW dealer and expect to pay around £1500 plus

Hello.
A black mohair (the same quality as original) hood and headliner for a BMW Z3 is £1200. The only difference between our hoods and the original is that ours do not have the zip out window.
Regards
Paul

He obviously does not want to do the job then. He did my pre facelift and charged a little more for including side pockets.
I understood the liner was a separate part and attached to the frame rather than the hood fabric. Is that correct? Is it possible to keep the liner and just change the outer? Apolgies if this is a daft idea!

And fitted to a amazing quality.

Got mine in Swansea. £300 fitted. It has both pockets and a lining. Although I think the lining was already there.

Any of them should retain the original lining. Jack Smith's come with the relief pockets and Soft Tops in Croydon will also make one with them. The only difference is the stitched in window, which you will get anywhere unless you go genuine. I've had one from each of the above and both have been OEM quality without the zipped window. You pay the extra for the companies that buy them in already made and this can be £300 upwards on what Jack Smith / Soft Tops charge.
