Original Door Cards

Thinking about changing my door cards, as one is worn. Would like to try to keep as original as I can hence my question.

My present ones have a sort of mottled effect, this is also on part of the seats. I like the look of the black leather door cards as replacements. My question is, would the black leather ones have been used with the seats I have?

As I say I'd like to keep to what would have been available when the car was built. OCD I am....

If it's just them 2 leather panels that are damaged and need replacing I have 2 of them spare if you are interested. You will need to take the old ones of and re-glue the new ones back on. If you are not comfortable in doing this you will have to replace the whole doorcards.

That effect is matching across the door card and seats and is known as 'Oregon' leather. Personally I don't like it. It's one of the few styling aspects of Z3s that I find very dated.

Put whatever door cards you like on! But if it was me I'd be changing the seats too ;)

Thanks for the comments. But still trying to establish if the door cards had to be the ones in my car with those seats?

If your seats have Oregon leather (the mottled part in the centre) then your doorcards would have it also. The only way to check what was fitted out of the factory is to put you VIN into one of these sites that gives you the factory specs.

Put your VIN into https://www.bmwvin.com/ and it will show you everything your car came out of the factory with.

If your after plain leather doorcards they won't match the seats but shouldn't look out of place, a lot of owners change the seats and doorcards anyway for ones from the sport or ///M as the seats are much more comfortable.

I think I answered that that in my previous post ;). The car would have been built with matching door cards and seats. But any black leather door card is not going to be out of place.
