Hi all,

Please accept our profuse apologies for the down time on the site this morning. In laymans terms someone tried to attack the network this site sits on, the security systems did their job and protected all the sites. This meant the servers had to be taken down temporarily.

The servers this site lives on are monitored 24/7 by engineers. They were aware of the issue as soon as it started and worked on resolving it immediately.

This is the response from the team.

"The network on one of our clouds was under a large distributed denial of service attack (DDOS) which we have now filtered out. We have restarted the server as a matter of course so you should be up and running again.

We manage to filter 99% of attacks that come through without any effect to the service but unfortunately sometimes they are of sufficient size to cause disruption and this one was quite complex so took longer to filter."

Well I guess that is the first real test of resiliance for you guys and well done, makes you wonder what would have happened if .net had suffered a similar attack would it be down again for a couple of weeks again. :-s

It's all my fault for having a lay in ;

My Android phone speaks to me when I get emails, so at 10am this morning a rather croaky digitized voice screams "You have 2 new emails". One was from Titan and the other from Hard Top - thanks chaps :-bd

Grabbed my laptop and straight on to James in a panic, but his techie's were all over it already! Phew. Much ~o) consumed and I'm back to normal as well as the site...

This is one of the biggest problems with the Internet, people with nothing better to do than try and destroy others work and enjoyment L-) X(
