A stunning achievement by an ageing but equally stunning aircraft. Amazing planning, logistics and team work. Was it a success? Well, Argentina didn't deploy there fast jets to Port Stanley which saved lives and ships, so yes.

A bit of a watch but well worth it.

As you say Andy, a stunning aircraft as were all the V bombers. There is a Vulcan at Southend airport. It stood outside for years whilst a volunteer group did their best to stop it deteriorating. It used to do fast taxi runs (almost aborted take offs) at the Southend Air Show. Happy to report that it now has hangar space. The group's annual open day is this Sunday funnily enough. Might take a look

Lucky enough to work with Victors in their Tanker role at Marham, 55 Squadron. Great kites. Love the Vulcan though. Enjoy the day if you do. Pics please :D

Yes I agree, but I gather that one of the main issues that grounded the Vulcan was that the people that were trained to maintain them and to issue the airworthiness certificates are all retired or gone. It was a 1950s aeroplane.
