Couldnt remove one of my lug nuts so bought a breaker and have snapped the nut! The other three loosened fine
1. When I jack up car, will this be simple to remove?
2. What recommended nuts are out there to buy, dont need locking ones just decent ones for good price.

May sound silly but that broken piece will either be very loose (and come out easily) or be stupid tight and need drilling and re tapping.

Tony.

It's what is called re cutting the thread, using a thread tap.

Tony.

ps. I may have some wheel bolts in the Shed. I'll look in the morning .

Have some new spare bolts here will have to trim to length, broken bit should come out with a bit of fettling with a drill and extractor but it’s probably loose now with no tension on it and may wind out without any faffing about. Away at the moment and planning on visiting Zed Shed West at Lydney Saturday, in Sunday if you are about.
Think i have a tap as well to clean the thread out.

Thanks @t-tony and @colb. I will see what its like tomorrow. I wanted to take car out Sat and Sun so if worse comes to worse I could take to a garage. Could this be a costly fix?

If you’ve got all the other 4 off the the wheel will come off, so at least you’ll have a bit of room to attempt a removal.
If you want a spare standard wheel bolt pm me your address and I’ll pop over in the post

It wouldn't bother me using a car with 1 nut/bolt missing. You might be surprised how many turn up for test with one missing on each wheel (usually after having had the locking bolts removed) and the owner were clueless. Had this many times where one was missing on a 4 fixing wheel, let alone 5 or 6. Never had it on a 3 fixings wheel though.

Tony.

All sorted, managed to get it out very slowly with pliers, phew. I wanted to renew all my bolts, so now is as good a time as any.
Any advice on good sets to buy/where? Want them chrome looking and not black. Also what is the size/spec Im needing as have had a look online and in Bentley and its not 100% clear.
