Hello, fellow Z enthusiasts,

Over the weekend, I got to thinking about what lovely, warm, funny, kind and generous people I've met via our forum. Long may it continue, says I! :)

My question is simply this: when we type our quests for help, gathering interest for events and general banter on here, do we really present our true selves or do our keyboards act as barriers to us getting to know other members online? Offline, we get to share a tale or two about our beloved Z cars and share a bite and a chat over a table or under a car, yet when we don't meet in real life, are we gauging as true as a possible representation of others?

Pondering...

Can't beat face to face meets

Same as any other platform on tinternet I suppose, the real you can only be seen and assessed face to face. Take me for example, on the keyboard I'm a sauve, sophisticated, intellectual and supreme athlete with ravishing good looks and a sense of humour that all others aspire to have =))

My off-spring and the C-in-C tell me otherwise ........ daily :arghh:

Forums and 'social networks' are all very well. But I prefer the face to face social networking in a pub or a tea room or working on Zeds.
But if it wasn't for this forum, my circle of friends with whom I can share a pint or cup of coffee with would be much smaller. Cheers @GazHyde ;)

Can't beat getting your hands dirty helping someone with their car or having a meet up.

Tony.

Interesting point. You cannot help but build a picture in your head of what you expect someone to be like from their posts on a forum. On a specialist forum like .org we are all starting from a shared interest in our Zeds which gives us something in common straight away. On the few meets and runs that I have been on I have never met anyone off this forum that I would dodge in the street and the vast majority of them I look forward to meeting again. I only hope I do not come over as too much of a plonker on here or in the flesh! :pompus:

This forum is fantastic as it offers so much help keeping our beloved zeds ticking.
To be honest, if I hadn't found this forum I would of probably sold our zed a few years after buying it but, me and Sara have gained some very good mates on here, which enhances owning a zed (for us at least).

When I first came on this forum I had the preconceived idea that small convertible sports car owners were all bald fat aging letharios trying to relive their glory days. Well after meeting a few I can honestly say that this isn't the case, some of them have still got hair :D:D:D.
