One year ago this week

One year ago this week I took delivery of my little blue 3 litre Z3.
It has not moved from the garage since and I have never driven it (yet). It is not blue anymore and doesn't resemble a Z3 much anymore either.
Hopefully by this time next year (if I survive long enough) it will have been on the roads at least once.
I am actually really looking forward to seeing what the M54 engine is like, as I have never driven a n/a 6 cylinder BMW. A couple of more modern turbocharged ones and quite a few 4 pot turbos, but not a n/a six pot.

my least favorite thing about the Z3 is the shape of the front grill, have you changed that on yours?

When I started my rebody I did it in small stages where the car was drivable between stages. And I drove it. First few drives I had body panels rattling and flapping about and the car looking like a disconnected collection of bits that just happened to be traveling in the same direction.

Still not finished. I don't think mine looks to be any more complete than yours. But driving really does give me the incentive to crack on with it.

The only place I anticipate taking it firstly, is to get the four-pipe exhaust made and fitted. Not sure how that is going to work as it has no MOT now, I don't know if it's MOT-able with the exhaust half cut off. Something else to think about. I'll add it to the list.

Yes. Very much so.

I just don't have your level of commitment. I need my driving 'fix' to get me through the next stage.

I do understand what you mean though. One day when my car is finished I'll go for a drive and say "Meh, not much different to last time". When you drive yours on that day you'll need surgery to get the smile off your face.

It will be a completely new experience, as I have never driven it, ever, apart from reversing it into my garage from the trailer (about 10 yards). The only thing I do remember was it sounded very nice and rumbly.
That was on purpose when I first got it, as I didn't want to get familiar with it as a Z3, as to me, it was never destined to be a Z3. It's all in the mind. And my mind doesn't seem to work like most people's.

You are allowed to drive without an MOT if you are travelling to a test centre or to where corrective work will be carried out. So you should be OK.

(I know there are people on this forum who disagree with this, but it's here in black and white on the gov website. Nowhere does it specify what repairs do or do not count, nor where or who must carry out the work)

You won't want to go back to a 4 pot turbo, that's for sure.
