Hello all,

I'm new to the forum, decided to join because I am currently looking for a Z3 to call my own and this seems a good place to start!

I'm after something 6 cylinder I have a budget roughly £2.5-3k. I would like a clean example, what should I be expecting to get for around that money? I would like a 2.8 but struggling to find any that aren't in poor condition in that budget.

Also if anyone knows of a car for sale that might fit the bill please let me know! I am based in London but willing to travel for the right car.

Cheers,
Jack

:welcome: to the forum from West Cumbria. The 2.2 6 pot is reputed to be good, and as said, Gaz has a good one for sale.

Welcome from Aylesbury
For that kinda budget you may struggle to find a good 2.8 that don't need much doing

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Cheers I will take a look. I'd be more than happy with a tidy 2.2, but no harm being optimistic.

What is the general report on the 2.0L engines? I have seen a tidy one for sale but worried it may feel underpowered.

Hey Jack, welcome from me near Lincoln. If you're capable of doing some repairs and maintainance yourself then look for a 2.8, if not you may be better off with a 2.2 that's had some TLC in its life. I started out with a 2.0 Z3 but I changed for a 3.0 Z4.

Tony.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the info. I am comfortable doing a bit of work, used to do a lot in the past but mainly French cars. Since moving to London I don't have the luxury of space or a garage to do so anymore. The 2.2 might be a better bet for me by the sound of it.

You are right about that, been to see a few cars and had to fight the urge to pull the wallet out because it wasn't exactly what I was after. Cheers for the encouragement!

If you want power, you really need to go for a 2.8, there is barley any difference between 2.2 and 2.0, I have a 2.0 and love it however I would like more power, I don't know why, its just one of those things, I keep up with the 2.2s ok just have to drive it a little harder.

Welcome Jack and congratulations for your decision (to be a Zedder)!
With your budget shouldn't be a problem; look at "Bargain" thread.
Wish you good luck or good hunting!

Hi from Canada!! Don't overlook the power and economy that comes with the mighty 1.9. I find mine has all the power to cruise at low speeds and speeds well above the speed limits is it's asked to do so, not that I ever ask mind you!! I prefer to hit the throttle and get up to speed by bouncing the tach needle off the red line!! Good luck and you shouldn't have let @GazHyde You have £3000!! but don't tell him I warned you please!! lol JIM
