Hi,

My dad is looking for a used MAF to replace his faulty one.

It’s the older style fitted to cars PRE September 1998.

Let me know if anyone has one spare.

Thanks,
Connor.

Sorry, can't help on this occasion. I think the part you want is 13621707650.

I had to check myself why it was different to the later part and it's the round rather than square connector. According to realoem it's bespoke to the Z3 so don't buy one from another M52 BMW.

Yes Robert I know. I suggested one on eBay and it has turned out to be the wrong one. His car was manufactured on the 14th August ‘98 and the newer style came in for September production! How unlucky!

Connor.

you can get them from EuroCarParts £91 at the moment
It's the old secondhand OEM v new 3rd party part isn't it? I'd rather have the secondhand part all day long and I'd be trying to pick it up for £30 with postage.

Others will be happy with a new part that's not OEM and to pay more for it.

this is very true, especially as OEM (BMW) will charge a fortune.

However, its also a question on longevity if you have to keep buying second hand

In fairness I've had the same debate with myself about ABS control modules. But at £30 each secondhand compared with £150+ for a rebuild you'd need to get through a few.

The thing is as these cars get older a) the secondhand spares will (someday) become less available b) the secondhand spares that are around as time goes on are less likely to work/will go wrong sooner.

This is the correct one no? Link

If so there are a few available on eBay. Alternatively I purchased a new non OEM one from a local company for £25 in the summer. I'm happy to give them a call and see if they have any left.

It's the right connector. But realoem lists the Z3 part as unique to that car. There are lots of that type of MAF for other BMWs on ebay but none at the time for a Z3.

There are various sellers who will put Z3 in the title of a part from another BMW without checking fitment. The MAF is a good example and the engine sump is another good example with the latter also being unique to Z3.

Good to know thanks, I shall remember this for future reference.

Although, the one I posted from the ebay link has the same part number as you listed above. And it's legible via the image also.

In that case it's quite possible it came off a Z3 and is wrongly being listed as fitting other BMWs!

Good spot.
