Am a 77 year old that recently purchased a Z3, 2.8 with 68k. Have the usual issues with a 23 year old car. Had a fair amount of suspension work done, had all fluid changed including auto trans and rear end. Rear end has an annoying whine and just finished spraying insulation in trunk. Attempting to replace the bulbs in the instrument panel for the odometer. Looks like I will be pulling the steering wheel so I can get at it. I can’t see like I used to. The sagging glove compartment will be my next project. About 15 years ago I had a Z3 Coupe and when I reached about 110,000 miles the rear end failed. Should have had it repaired. This is the reason I bought the roadster.

Hi John, welcome from me near Lincoln UK. You don't need to remove the steering wheel to get the instrument binnacle out of the dash. Just remove the 2 screws and use a credit card to ease the top of the binnacle out of the pod.

Tony.

Hi Tony,
I got the binnacle out already, just can’t get my hands inside to disconnect the plugs to allow access to the bulbs.
30 years ago I might have been coordinated enough, but no longer. Thank you for your response.

Hi there, just acquired Z3 other day and glad I finally own one.
This is the 1999 1.8 wide body, not the big engine I would normally want however I love the car and enjoying the drive.
Regards John

Thank you. Quick question to everyone, tried to use a USB adaptor in the cigarette lighter in order to use to charge my iPhone. Nothing for connection. Any ideas and how difficult is it to remove the socket? Thank you in advance.
