The other day, which particular day is irrelevant but I know it was a day because it had a 'Y' in it I was in a strange mood and decided to do a really stupid thing that no sane person should ever do which is RTFM?

I know........ but remember how stupid I am. Anyway I pulled the little book of knowledge out of the glove box. It referred to the BMW Z4 which I am particularly pleased about because that's what I bought and its reassuring to know the car is genuine. Well whilst browsing through this little book of knowledge I came across a part of the book that stated 'Opening the boot from the inside'. Filled with excitement I read on as I didn't know that one of the 7585 buttons that are in the car opens the boot and I was determined to find out which one. For some strange reason the little book of knowledge shows a picture of the location of the offending button but shows a left hand drive car. After pondering over the picture I realised that it would be the opposite way round in my car due to it being a right hand drive car. (my intelligence frightens me sometimes). After standing on my head to look at the picture I could see that the offending button should be on the drivers side of the car approx. 1ft below the air vent. Armed with this fantastic discovery I searched for the button but after exhausting myself I was left without success. Referring to the picture once more it dawned on me that the reason I couldn't find it is because ITS BEEN STOLEN? Yes fellow member harsh words indeed but it has not only been stolen, the thief has cleverly covered their tracks with a small plastic blanking plate. Now I'm not one to point the finger but this despicable act has only been noticed since I joined this forum and I know that certain members had a lustful gleam in their eyes when they saw my pasties so I must begin my investigation here.

I would dearly love to open my boot from the inside like the little book says I can do and not being a one for revenge or vengeance or sucking the culprits brains out with a bicycle pump and feeding them to my fish so I am prepared to forgive and forget so long as my button is returned.

Remember honesty is the best ?policy so has anybody got any clues as to where my interior boot release button is at this moment in time?

It looks like you're going to have to return the car along with the manual and point out that you've been short-changed. :arghh:

Actually - Gail's E89 doesn't have this button either. It is most frustrating compared to the E85.
Instead, you need a big bent stick that hooks over the boot, under the boot release and then with a sharp rearward movement, flick the catch open.

Got to use the key unfortunately, which when your in the car with the engine running is most frustrating that you can't flick the boot open for someone else to get in.

There's another neat little trick with the key fob though. If you park your car in a garage, getting out in limited space needs you to be double jointed and wear a gum shield. Instead - Press the unlock button a couple of times, the drivers window pulls down most of the way. Close the door and up it pops. Much easier to get in and out.

ps - Can I have some of what you're on =))

Hold on....... hold on my head hurts now...........I need a brandy? (short pause............. and sounds of clinking bottles)

Ok so now I'm sitting comfortably with my brandy this is how I see it........I think?

Another member says another member stole it from my car.........
Another member thinks the e89 doesn't have one anyway but wants to sell me a big bent stick and because you can't open the boot from inside the car he wants me to get in and out of my car through the window........
And another member suggests I can get one from a bloke in Canada...........

Life was a lot simpler before I read that damn book...............
