folks,
I want to give my car a service, so I’ve bought the spark plugs, air filter, oil filter, but I got bamboozled with the oil! So, I think I need 6ltrs of oil, but I cannot figure out what grade of oil. I don’t want cheap oil, and I see that the oil cap has Castrol on it, so I thought I would use that.
What oil are you all using?
Phil

I use Castrol Edge 0W 30 which was the OEM oil for the car, mine is a 3.0 so it is basically the same M54 engine. I have had it for 115,000 miles and it is still as good as new.

I will add that I know there are other quality oils on the market but I have been driving for 57 years and have always used Castrol with no complaints. The main thing is to use a fully synthetic oil 0W30 or some use 5W30.

I always use genuine parts filter , although I know some are OE suppliers
Oil from Opie normally use Shell , since the demise of Duckhams green soup many years ago.
I have the X1 in for Oil Service (Oil,Oil filter , microfilter £295 buts its got a service contract) today , and I understand MW now use Shell

This post has just spurred me into getting new oil + filter, for a change at the weekend

Euro Car Parts Discount Code BANK70 = £75.00 ish for 2 x 4 ltr Castrol Edge 0W-30 + MANN Filter.

Could get cheaper, but prefer a decent oil :):)
