You may have a little bit of a problem there my friend.

What you are asking for is a sill cover. What I see a hole in (and I hope I'm wrong) is both the decorative sill cover and structural sill on the inside which is part of the chassis.

You have a whole together different issue if your inner structural sill is rotted. And it may not be the only place on the car.

I would be inclined to remove both sill covers and wheel arch liners for a full assessment.

I just hope my eyes are playing tricks on me. For your sake!

I have to agree, that looks like more than the sill cover :(

Had a look into the hole of doom and yes I can confirm that the inner sill is certainly away at the front jack point area. Will take sills off in due course and see how bad it really is. Again thanks for the advice , I hope it can be welded ok

I had a z in the shop a couple of years ago and it had exactly the same issue, we had to fabricate new jacking points for it and fit 2 new sills.

If you get desperate I can cut some sections out of my breaker. But there's so much on my plate at the moment I can't promise it would be quick. You'd be better off looking elsewhere to be sure.

Not a bad shout that, I'll be scrapping one next week. Sills seem OK actually, bit of rust, but servicable (from the outside!)

Thanks all

Really appreciate the assistance , think I need to buy new outer sill covers from Bmw after the work I am about to embark on . Think I may have to do some intricate fabrication too for the structural side .

I'm no mechanic by any means , i work in an office , but am toying with the idea of an arc welder now

I was just going to call you in. Sounds like you have sold the one you took off the blue car.
I haven't as yet but I have a few messages of people wanting them i need to reply to and as they would be collecting I'd prefer that route

Great if you're handy with metalworking. But it's a complex shape especially with the port holes you'll find when you take the sill cover off.

You may be better with a cut out section. Rotten sill covers are common. Rotten structural sills aren't so are easy to find, if someone is prepared to cut them out.

Ok seems too big a job for me tbh to do the structural work , I'm not really in that much of a hurry , could wait till later in year, .but would really appreciate it if AnyOne breaking could keep me in mind for cutouts.Anyway I'd rather have fun with Zed for any sunny days we may get here in Scotland so we're staying on road for a few weeks 159,000 and engine sounds sweet as.

Thanks again

My z3 is sat here being broken and sills are off. I just don't have the tools to cut you out a section :(
