Hello all! I figured I'd ask the well knowledgeable group here after trying to do a little google sifting and forum searching, but I have a very unique issue -

My heater only blows hot, and I mean nuclear hot, on the maximum setting, 4, on the heater dial - everything else is ice cold. Now I've yet to do a coolant refresh and bleed, and I've bought the new hoses and thermostat / water pump to do the job, hoping that's a fix for a possible airlock. I was also told the bowden cable that controls the temp behind the dash can be problem - how do I access it and what do I do with it? A mechanic told me it could be the heater solenoid, but I wasn't so sure.

NB. Just noticed today that I had a slight hiss on my expansion tank near the seam, so that will need to be replaced also.

Need a little bit of clarification please.

The heater fan has a dial that goes from 1 to 4. If the fan is only working on 4, then the heater resistor pack has failed. This is a "pull out" pack fitted on top of the heater fan motor. Access is from the windscreen cowl, that's form the outside of the car.

The heater temp dial is hot/cold. If it spins freely (no resistance) and you are only getting hot air, then the pin on the back of the dial is likely broken and the blend flap is set on hot.

Hi - yes the fan works on all settings, with resistance - cold on 1,2,3 and then instantly hot on 4.
