If I look very closely with a light shining at an angle to the front of the obc display I can see that it is working and the functions change when I press the column button in so I suppose the led's have failed. The lower ones work and light up the buttons but the the top ones are kaput. Can they be replaced? Does anybody on here have the know-how to do it or has anybody got a spare one for sale?

They can be replaced, I've tagged our suppliers of parts who may be able to help.

If whatever lights up the display can be changed then it would need taken out and opened up as no external bulb holder
You are right Steve. I have had the front off a spare one and there are 4 tiny led's on a circuit board that connects to the mother board via a ribbon. It's unlikely that all 4 have failed so it's probably a feed fault. I will try rigging a direct feed from a live to see if they fire up and if they do I may be able to make a skilful manipulation of non-standard parts, aka a bodge.

Failed. There are actually 6 tiny led's that light up the screen. I tried messing with it but it is too complicated for my tiny brain and too fiddly for my sausage fingers.
