Hi,
1999 1.9 Z3 M43 B19
Just got the engine icon light come on - analysis: a code P0130 refferring to the sensor before the cat. Have cleared the fault and light is extinguished. However, need to source a possible replacement, part number I believe is 11781247406.

Would be very appreciative if you could advise on best make as Autodoc etc are throwing up various manufacturers - Ridex,Stark,Engitech,Bosch,Vemo to name just a few. - I will be keeping the car so don't want to rework this.

Also any advice on getting the sensor out - pipework looks sound around the sensor.

As always, many thanks in advance for all your help
Kind Regards
Brian

Bosch are the sensors to go for. Just make sure that it is one for your car and not a universal fitting one. The universal sensors have a silly connector box that you use to connect the original plug.

General rule of thumb, if the sensors have more than 120,000 miles on them, just change them.

Just changed my pre-cat sensor today. Bosch sensor is £75 at Eurocarparts (if you're in the UK). As for getting it out, I used a 22mm ring spanner plus a second large spanner as extension. It needed quite a bit of force, but came out eventually...

I also went for the Bosch..no issues since and running 100% better.

I just changed my cat & the sensor was so seized on I had to clamp it in a bench vice & turn the exhaust around it to start undoing it. I probably should have probably used a long Stilson wrench but with the car on a jack it's difficult to get enough swing!

Agree go for a Bosch replacement with the correct connector not a universal one where you have the faff of connecting wires. I found a Ring spanner worked better than a Lambda socket to get the old one out. Aid the unscrewing with some penetrating spray but dont contaminate the new one when you screw that in. A little copperease grease on the thread should be ok to use when screwing the new one in but keep it off the probe end.

Sourced a Bosch one from Autodoc - delivery was about 2 weeks and happy with the fact that it was a genuine Bosch made in USA.

Managed to get the old one out quite easily with a 22mm ring spanner. The new Bosh unit came with the threads already coated in a grey gease like substance so did not alter this. Nice to see that the new one came with a plastic protective covering on the sensor probe so fingers crossed this should eliminate this problem.
Once again many thanks for the useful feedback.
