I suspect there’s a leak in the roof the driver’s side. When it was tucked away, the damp has enabled mould to flourish. I may be wrong, though.

A leak will do it, too.
How can the mould be removed and the interior made good again?

There are a lot of automotive interior spray cleaners on the market (Autoglym, maguires etc) ..I would start with dilute white wine vinegar sprayed on, let it dry then hoover it. If you have a wet and dry hoover use that. Steam cleaner also good if you have one

Had the same when I went on an extended travel break - like AntStark said Milton fluid got rid of it and never came back - I used it with a magic eraser sponge but took a couple of goes and left the roof down to air it thoroughly

Once cleaned, Get some of these, used them for a few years and no issues with damp or mould. Reusable by 12 mins in the microwave to dry them out.

Condensation bags

I just use one large, but two if it's already damp
