I originally joined .not and was not impressed and drifted away, later I found .org and instantly felt " at home" ( apart from HT giving me grief about my stickers). I have just visited .not and although several members on here are also on there, albeit in different guises, it is not an easy experience using their site.
I can only assume this is down to the way this site was set up in the first place by the original founders, so I say "thank you" or I would not have bothered.

Tony.

Thought darts night was Monday nights Tony?..........;)
Isn't he allowed to have a few beers without the darts flying? Does that mean I'm going to need to join the legion dart squad but it's Tuesdays. Tony had a long day today and deserves some R&R. Shirl came home from FL today. JIM

I feel like Tony was in a sentimental mood and just gave me a cuddle.

Joking aside I couldn't agree more.

Thank you Tony, it's always nice to get a cuddle! I need my ego massaged frequently occasionally...

But for all that, it is the members who make as much a contribution to how the site feels. I can make the worlds best site, but if you reprobates lovely people don't give up your time to drop in I'd be sat on the sofa talking to the bookshelf as usual :)

Perhaps best to not compare us to others - we are unique, we are Zorg!!

If it is the site where the posts scroll then I agree with you. I find it awkward to use. Not too bad on my PC but still haven't mastered it on my tablet!!!

I have been with the site from the very early days, so have seen it's growth

I can appreciate the work @GazHyde has put into it, adding new features and improvements on a regular basis

I also like how the members interact with each other and organise meets and runs

As Young Mr Grace, in Are You Being Served, used say .....
Carry on. You've all done very well.

The members make the site what it is, and I've met several nice guys who are on the other side. My gripe is with the site itself and it lack of being user friendly, ie for a quick reply or comment. Perhaps that is by design?

They use PHPBB forum software which is at least a 10 year old design - it does an adequate job

Zorg started off using PHPBB, but Gaz updated us with Zenforo, which has a lot more nicer features

Voldemort voldermort........ It's clunky, old fashioned, and an old boys network, the amount of posts that go unanswered, or stupid answers and no banter, not that I have ever visited......

When I bought my Zed I looked at joining a Zed "club". I did an internet search and to be honest, this site was the first site I looked at. It seemed pretty busy and I enjoyed being a lurker for over a year before I posted for the first time just before Christmas.
Since I've been active in the forums here, I've looked at the "other" site , only because others made reference to it, but as Tony has already said, I didn't find it very easy to negotiate.

I think it's run by Bots, lots of standard phrases used:

Sales threads must have a price, thread locked for not putting a price

Just buy a bigger engined Z3, thread locked for wanting to upgrade

Ooh that will need to Be reported to the insurance, thread locked for wanting to upgrade

Its a scam, no one can possibly be human and make mistakes in piston heads adverts, thread locked because it's a statement of .net fact

We the mods are ace, thread locked so no one can disagree

If you want really good advice and a good time, go to Zoadster.org, thread locked because we can't disagree

There are possibly others but the threads were locked..........

As has been said before, it's like being in the pub with your mates that are very diverse but have a common interest in a car.The nice thing about this particular forum it seems to attract nice people that are happy to help others without being condescending or elitist.I like the fact it's not all about fixing the same old problems over and over again, and encouraging diffrent ideas even if you would never dream of doing it yourself. The enthusiasm for meeting and actually driving the car gives you the excuse to get behind the wheel, and between these times the forum keeps you in touch and the friendly atmosphere encourages others :) rant over:banghead: ;)
