Not sure what this is?

In the process of fitting my engine splash shield and found this not attached to anything? Drivers side sat in the base of the wheel arch next to the horn and behind the fog light. Had a look but can't see anything obvious, any pointers would be most appreciated.

Looks like a sensor of some sort?

Outside temp sensor Andy.

On the 4 pot clip in beside fog lights

behind hole in black trim nearside
Not sure about your 6 cyl but look about for the mounting hole
