Been over on holiday in the USofA for just over a week of a 17 day trip. Expected to see loads of Z3s given that they are made here and the interest on this site from various US based owners.

But no..... 5 days in Manhattan and only one brief sighting from a distance. Then today, my first sighting but what a sad sight! Looks like a late 3 litre Sport to me but three of the tyres are soft, the hood is going green and it's not moved for a while. Obviously the people of Shelter Island don't cherish their Z Roadsters!!!

Z3's really are rare here. I see a black one occasionally on my way to work, but usually none. Then, two or three in a single day, but rarely. I think BMW exported most of them. They weren't really appreciated much. The Z4 responded to that "problem". Most of them are run-down. This is the land of SUVs. (ugh) But I think it's a nice, reliable, unique, and inexpensive car - as long as it's a project or a weekend car. My 97 2.8 will soon qualiy as an antique in Maryland. Already, it placed in the local Deutsch Marque concourse. At the local Cars and Coffee, it's the only one. Enjoy your visit! If Maryland is on your route, stop by! Tomorrow, (Sat) the DC BMW club is having a drive up to Philadelphia to a car museum / Cheese Steak joint. Are you driving an interesting rental?

Driving a brand new Buick LaCrosse with 20in wheels and a shed load of electronics I don't understand. Very comfortable but I'm afraid doesn't get near to my F30 330D Msport as a driver. En-route to Ithaca via the Catskills but thanks for the invite!

Sorry no room for alloys!!!

A very nice trip. I visit Ithaca four to five times every year for volunteer work at Cornell. LOTS of speed traps on that route.

I see you also have an F30, although a bit more powerful one than my Black/Black 6 spd Msport package 320i with 600 miles now. Ist nicht schnell, but gets over 40 MPG (US gallons). I got the 320 after receiving a huge fine for 85 in 55 in an e30 325 that I used to have. And 85 was a gift from the officer. It was more like 115. BonVoyage!
